“God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.”

Isn’t that the serenity pledge that Alcoholics’ Anonymous uses?
Ah… that’s a bit different that the one I use:
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can;
and the willpower to resist choking the living s**t out of every a**hole who sorely deserves it.”
Amen.
That quote by Neibuhr, as well as the prayer for serenity used by AA, are variations on a prayer to Zeus attributed to Epictetus.
