solve this

This morning, a student approached R, one of my employees, and showed him the following equation: 168 ÷ 12

He then asked R, “Does this mean 168 divided by 12, or 12 divided by 168?”

R responded that it meant the former. The student thanked him and left.

A half-hour later, the student returned, and asked R, “How do I solve this?”
