I’ve been bitten by the tumblelog bug, thanks to Tumblr. If all this gets too earnest for you, or if I haven’t updated here in a while, join me at the randomness-enriched unlibrarian.com.

hot ride

As of Tuesday morning, I have contact lenses again, and for the first time in a decade, my vision is corrected to 20/20. It feels great. What also feels great? Having excellent health benefits so that it didn’t cost me anything. My DVD rentals aren’t traveling back to Netflix as quickly as they did from my old address, so I found myself movie-less tonight … until I unpacked some boxes and found the “Heroes” season one episodes I hadn’t seen yet. Still, once these run out, I’ll probably experiment with different mailboxes. Someone outside is yelling randomly, but that is hardly a newsflash. If I didn’t hear random yelling outside, I’d worry. About a million Web-years ago, around 10 years in offline time, I wandered onto a website. I’ve forgotten the name, but it was a portal of sorts, and it had a trivia chat room. Being a fan of trivia, I joined, and ended up meeting quite a few entertaining folks. I finally had the time to upload some photos from Strybing Arboretum in Golden Gate Park. This one is my favorite, although through fiddling with this photo I realized I need better software so that figuring out how to crop my photos isn’t so painful. I also need to learn how to use my camera better, but I hear taking more photos is the best way to do...

keep going

Usually it either takes hours or moments for me to write something here. This one took days, not because it was complex or layered or filled with intriguing metaphors, but because I am worded out, spoken out, written out, wrung out and drawn out. In a good way! The best way. The on my own and fighting vague terror about what the hell I’m doing way. Alcohol helps. I can see the attraction now when I couldn’t before: the voices spurred by fear or insecurity usually circle twice and sit down like obedient pups once I’ve got a glass or two in me. Here is what is not at all a secret: the past few months have been a total mindfuck. I expected always to be one of those “tortured artist” types — not that I ever considered myself a...
