I wish I could say I was sorry for being so young and stupid, and acting horribly and just not knowing so much. It is that exact point you make here: "You exist not for my sake"... This is key to best friends becoming the perfect team. If you have one party constantly thinking that the other "serves them", it is completely unequal.
