Day 298 of Project 365: In Training

It seems like I have been trying to complete this Couch to 5K training forever. Today I finished the seventh week of nine, and decided to celebrate by signing up for my first race, the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run 5K. (ETA: I’ve signed up to fundraise for their charity, Diabetes UK. Please give if you can.)

Day 298 of Project 365: In Training

As you can see, I am not fast. I am, however, stubborn, and admittedly pretty excited about this. The race is three weeks away. Wish me luck!

Today I am grateful for:

  1. Those of you who have always had a kind word about my long and convoluted 5K training journey. I never did do things the easy way, and I appreciate the lack of eyerolling.
  2. Zombies, Run! It is entertaining and effective and downright creepy.
  3. Homemade spaghetti sauce.

  1. I was really reluctant to sign up for a race at the end of my C25K. It was Danny’s idea; at the time all I really wanted was to be able to run 3 miles 3x a week for health. My first race was the DSE Marina Green 5k. In the last .25 miles, I was passed by a wrinkled grey-haired gent and a mom with a baby jogger. It was the most inspirational thing I had ever done and I was hooked from then on. 🙂 Sooo excited for you and your first race!

  2. Well, you inspired me to walk to work yesterday and today. One more day and it’s a habit … and four extra miles a day!
