Day 331 of Project 365: Teatime

Recently one of my professors addressed the class with a little virtual teatime. Apparently, some classmates contacted her about not being able to keep up with the workload and deadlines, and so she made some executive decisions about the syllabus that couldn’t have been easy. She framed all of it in a compassionate and lighthearted way with virtual tea and biscuits.

I felt relieved, but also guilty, because we had all gotten away with something that felt a lot like weakness.

In other, completely unrelated news: video trailers for books, yes or no? If you’ve seen great ones, show me in the comments.

gratitude: relaxed deadlines, really · quick-cook polenta · solid advice from solid people

  1. I loved the way she presented the changes. I forewent the guilt, though…there’s plenty of challenge left in the course and I feel like the changes will free me up to hit the work that’s left with gusto. I’m learning more and more about the possible pitfalls in online instruction (lack of good face to face time with professors being one) and how to make up for that, when necessary.
