This insect crawled around on the deck long enough for me to run back inside and grab my dSLR and macro lens. I took many photos but without my tripod only a few were usable. My usual floral subjects don’t move around so much.

Upon first glance, I assumed it was a bee, but after some preliminary research I am not so sure. If you know, please tell me!

[Update: Based on the tiny antennae and only two wings, I am fairly confident that this is a bee-mimic fly. Thank you to Victor and Brian for weighing in.]
